LIFE CYCLES – What are they?
Learning Intention: This week we are going to be looking at the difference between a living and non-living thing and developing our understanding of plants and animals life cycles.
Success Criteria: Be able to explain what a living and non-living thing is. Be able to say what an animal or plant’s life cycle is. Be able to give an example of a plant or animal’s life cycle.

Look at this clip and watch for the stages of a plants ‘life cycle’.
Read this link to answer the first question.
QUESTIONS – Write the Heading LIFE CYCLES in your science book then write the question and its answer underneath! (You can watch the video again if you need to!)
- What’s the difference between a living thing and a non-living thing?
- Explain what you think a life cycle is?
- Pick either the lady bug or the frog and draw and label its life cycle using the correct terms for each stage of its life cycle.
- Draw the life cycle of a plant.
At the end of the lesson form a reflection circle in your classroom and share your thinking!
